WHO ARE WE?
California Animal Rescue is a California Non-Profit Corporation, tax exempt under IRC 501(c)(3).
We rescue orphans and homeless animals as well as pull from shelters and get referrals from shelters who are full or otherwise unable to take animals.
Many people find litters of kittens on their property, abandoned in front of stores, or on a roadside. By taking these animals under our wing we alleviate shelter overcrowding and give these animals a chance at a good home.
WHY WE EXIST
Our county animal shelters are often overcrowded. Many animals are euthanized because their short window of time to be adopted has run out, or because they are too young to be placed for adoption or they're sick and need to be in foster care until they are old enough and/or healthy enough to be adopted. We strive to fill some of the gap for those animals that run out of time or aren't given enough time.
Our space is limited as we operate our of our own homes so we limit our focus to rescuing animals in dire need.
WHO'S BEHIND THE SCENES?
Although we are a non-profit corporation, in practicality, we are just a handful of dedicated animal-loving volunteers who rescue animals from a variety of sources - from county shelters, persons finding litters on their property or sadly abandoned on streets and near businesses.
Often we stay up nights bottle feeding kittens, or nursing sick or injured animals or making trips to the emergency vet.
WHERE WE ARE
We have no physical site for our organization - we all foster animals in our homes and put them up for adoption at Bennett Valley Pet and Petco, two stores who have generously allowed us space to give our animals some exposure to potential adopters.
WHAT WE'RE NOT
We are NOT a shelter - we can't help people who need to find homes for their animals. Our purpose is to literally save lives by help animals on the brink of death - animals scheduled for euthanasia due to overcrowding, or abandoned or orphaned animals.
OUR SUCCESS
This past year we have rescued and adopted out over 300 animals - that's 300 lives saved. Some of our adopters have contacted us again when they wanted to add another pet to their homes, having been so happy with our happy, healthy animals. Check our "Success Stories" link for some happy endings to very sad beginnings.
